The diminishing supply of petroleum along with the pollution caused due to the non-biodegradability of petroleum-based plastics has led to an increased interest in the field of biodegradable plastics. This paper endeavours to study a novel method for the production of biopolymers using waste banana peels, potato starch and corn-starch. The study also concentrates on analysing the properties of plastics concerning its tensile strength, boiling point, temperature sensitivity, coldness and flame tests. Among the three resources, production of biopolymers using the banana peels found be good. Further extensive and detailed studies required for further multiple application of these biodegradable plastic.
